GUIDE RIGHT

The national service program of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. is called Guide Right.  From its inception in 1922, the mission of the Guide Right program is to provide guidance in assisting middle school students to choose meaningful careers consistent with the theme of achievement.  The program has evolved to include scholarships to underserved and talented students, and to inform, advise and counsel young people in the professions and career options before their senior year in high school.

Guide Right provides both inspiration and counsel to its participants providing direction and advice in the selections of career path and arousing the interest of the entire community in the problems of youth as they seek to realize productive futures.  The Guide Right program encompasses scholarship opportunities, a tutorial program and the Kappa Leadership Development League.

The goals and objectives of the Guide Right program are summarized as follows:

  1. To help male youth, especially those of high school age, in their selection of courses leading to vocations compatible with their aptitudes, interests, and personalities

  2. To assist students, while they are training, to get started in employment and to progress successfully in their chosen fields.

  3. To assist parents in the management of their children by giving them opportunities to talk over their problems with those who know and are successful in their chosen vocations.

  4. To provide unique opportunities for less fortunate youths to experience a respite from the drudgery of the streets, through sponsored entertainment and cultural enrichment.

  5. To inform youth of the values of higher education, of assistance available for continued educational pursuits, scholarships, loans, professional counseling, fellowships and to explore various occupational and professional opportunities
